Where we went

Ngati Manu Marae, Karetu

We began with our first marae noho at Ngati Manu Marae, Karetu. Catering was organised by Pou Herenga Tangata team under the guidance of Joe and Maude Riwhi. The programme was as follows:

8 May
Centred on getting to know one another, team building activities, working together, "housekeeping', marae protocol, identify skill and passion base, organise teams.

9 & 10 May
Meet the mentors, begin workshops in drama, dance, song writing, lyrics, filming, sound technologies, graphic art - stage backdrop, musical numbers. Fine tune items and identify which could be used for school or community shows. Time the length of acts and polish up on areas required.

11 May
Fine tune acts. Afternoon rehearsal for school show. Karetu whanau were invited to the evening rehearsal so they could provide feedback and make comments about the show. That went well.

12 May
Clean up marae and grounds with one more final rehearsal after lunch. Planning for the following week confirmed. Everyone headed for home - Rest!!!!!!

 

The Road Show Tour

The Road Show team performed a total of 17 shows over a period of two weeks from Kawakawa in the south Bay of Islands through to Kaitaia in the Far North, performing to approximately 4,200 people.

18 May
9.00am - Kaitaia College
